Maintenance & Safety
Electricity. You don't even think about it until a light goes off or your appliance stops working. Yet it is going on all around your home every day.
Everything from phone chargers to garage doors are running on electricity.
Re Wire:
In most homes electricity runs through copper cabling which is covered in thermo plastic insulation. Sounds good right. However before this, think pre 1970’s, the cabling was insulated with rubber. Fast forward to now and you may have cable insulation which is perishing. What happens in this case? You run the risk of hazardous situations. Electric shock and house fires can be a result of exactly this.
This is just one reason why your home may be due for a “rewire” to replace the old cabling with new.
Switch boards:
Another area of safety concern. You may have original porcelain fuses rather than safety switches. Porcelain fuses offer no protection against electric shock, and also have the potential to spark a fire.
Many original switch board panels can also contain asbestos. Upgrading your switch board may be a safety priority for your you and your home.
Smoke Alarms:
Hard wired smoke alarms offer the greatest fire protection in your house and are now mandatory in any newly built homes. We strongly recommend having these installed and or replaced every 10 years.
Loose Switches:
Although it doesn't appear to a major safety concern, loose switches can deteriorate quickly, leaving exposed live connections. If you aware of this, don’t delay to have them replaced.
